One of the great advantages of shopping online these days is access to cashback and rewards apps. These apps allow you to earn a percentage of cashback on purchases you make, such as holidays or simply your groceries.

In the USA, there are plenty of options, such as Ebates, available. However, in Australia, the options are a bit more limited. Recently, however, I discovered Cash Rewards

What is it?

Cash Rewards is an Australian cashback website and app that provides a percentage back in the form of cash for purchases made through the app/website’s links to different stores.

Each store available through Cash Rewards offers different standard cashback percentages, plus additional bonus cashback for promotions offerred.

Additionally, Cash Rewards also include available promo codes for discounts on what you buy in certain available stores.

How does it work?

To start using Cash Rewards all you need to do is go to cashrewards.com.au or download the Cash Rewards app from Apple or the Google Play store.

All that is needed are some basic personal details and a linked paypal or bank account so that you can receive payments from cashback received. So, it is quick and easy to get started.

To receive cashback while shopping, you need to go to the store you want to shop from through Cash Rewards’ app or website link so that your shop can be tracked and cashback received. After making a purchase, your cashback will appear as pending in your account.

The turnaround time for the cashback to be available to withdraw varies depending on the product or service purchased. However, this information is available up front via the Cashback Conditions for the store.

Pluses and minuses

The good things

  1. The app and website are very intuitive and easy to use.
  2. It’s quick and easy to set up.
  3. There’s a large inventory of stores to shop through.
  4. It offers promo codes for discount shopping.
  5. Cashback percentages are often 10% or higher.
  6. Free money!

The bad things

  1. Cashback timeframes can be significant.
  2. Sometimes the app freezes.

Hot Tip

Nothing is greater than finding a discount on a discount on a discount… So, keep your eye out for promotions available through groupon in particular. By shopping with Groupon through Cashrewards, I was able to get a few cartons of my favourite craft beer for half price by using Cashrewards to buy a $10 groupon for a $50 voucher for Boozebud. By the time I obtained my 10% cashback through Cashrewards, 15% off my groupon and $40 off my Boozebud order, I had saved 50% off the usual price.

Conclusion

In the past, I’ve used rewards programs such as frequent flyer shopping platforms to earn points as a form of shopping reward. However, given the minimal value of the points earned, I was looking for something that offered a more reasonable return… And Cashrewards is just the thing I was looking for.

Cheers, TFC.
